Handling CI Data
While the process of analyzing the results of data gathering
differs for each project, there are several process techniques that a CI analyst
should keep in mind in every situation. For convenience, we have divided them
between evaluating data, on the one hand, and organizing your analysis, on the
other.
Both evaluation and analysis are steps critical to the CI process.
In practice, it is somewhat difficult to distinguish exactly where they begin
and the process of collecting raw data ends. To try to separate them, use the
following division:
-
Evaluation: studying the raw data,
usually as you are collecting it, to determine if and how you can use it
-
Analysis: Studying raw data,
after evaluation, to turn it into CI
Using these steps requires that you test the reliability of the
data you obtained from your CI collection program and then eliminate false
confirmations from data sources.
