Account for
third-party data (intermediation)
Take into account the impact intermediation has on your
information management capability and be proactive in anticipating and resolving
problems associated with exchanging data with this third party.
Intermediation, where a third party sits between an organization
and its end customers, is an issue that has caused many organizations problems
with gaining access to managing and using customer information.
For the most part, this issue is of less concern to most
organizations than it would have been five years ago, even in the sectors where
intermediation is the norm, such as brokerage, automotive and insurance. The
majority of organizations interviewed now believe that these issues are well
understood and are being addressed, typically through the development of joint
'win-win' marketing programmes between the parties, with the intermediator being
encouraged to share data with the supplying organization.
